Identification: Liverwort or 'something' ???

    I've been tromping our newly acquired 10 acres of boggy forest. Today for the first time found one of these... something like a patch of 10 cm rubbery leaves all loosely glued to the ground.

    pics include the group (about 50 cm across); one leaf turned on its back (the leaf is about 10 cm across) ; and a closeup of 3 'young-uns' ( I guess!) - those are each about 1 cm long...

    Hi Rockandroller,

    These are Peltigera, a kind of lichen (lichenized fungi).
