Identification: little evergreen

    Could you please identify this little evergreen? Picture taken 26 of June in the Kootenays.

    Koyamaki Sciadopitys verticillata. One of the most unusual conifers around; native to Japan.

    Looks good now but stake probably indicates it's rootbound, in which case it may fall or lean over later. Might be worthwile to pull it up at end of winter and check out the roots, make corrections if possible. Meanwhile, a bigger grass-free area should be made around it and covered with mulch.

    How the presence (or lack of it) of stake says if it is root bound or not??

    In any case, it is not mine and I don't even know the owner, so what he/she decides to do is not up to me.

    The picture was taken in 2011. Out of curiosity, I am thinking, may be I will go next spring to see how it is doing.
