Updated April 5, 2023: You can see markers for Festival Favourite cherry tree locations on the Vancouver Cherry Blossom Festival's map at Neighbourhood Maps (vcbf.ca). Both festival maps open showing just red markers, which are the good photo-op locations. The map linked to here also has over 3000 blue markers, for all the other reported cherry tree locations. To see them, you need to go to the side panel, do a Search by selecting the appropriate tabs for what you want to select, and then click the Search button. We have a new version of the map as of August, 2014. We also have stopped picking favourites for each year. Now that we have around 500 (updated in April, 2023) favourite locations, there didn't seem to be a need to choose specific ones each year. The term is now used to refer to any location that is a good photo op. Locations that used to be included so as to be fair to each neighbourhood, or to make sure each cultivar was represented, have been dropped from the favourites list if they were unexciting. If you think a great location should be indicated as a favourite and it is not, let me know or write to the festival at info@vcbf.ca. If there is not a good photo of it in the VCBF Neighbourhood Blogs, please post one in the appropriate neighbourhood thread.
