Can someone help me identify this insect. My mimosa tree is oozing white liquid which I had a professional arborist tell me its merely alcoholic flux, but I'm beginning to disagree as half the tree appears dead so I fear it may be mimosa wilt disease in which case the tree is toast.

Along with an assortment of other insects attracted to the fermented-alcohol smelling ooze from my tree, this very nasty looking, flying insect appears the most interested. What is it? Could it be the cause of my tree dying?

some sort of long-horned beetle, boring insect. i would think it is a secondary pest snooping around since your tree is stressed. while it is visible, i would hand pick them off your tree and observe any boring holes that might arise.
