I have a one-year graft of Kinshi which has just two branches, both vertically oriented and both emerging from the exact same place on the same side of the graft. Should I remove one of the branches? Any thoughts would be appreciated.
I'd let it grow for at least another year before considering pruning. Let it build up some strength. Just MHO!
I agree with Emery, I don't like to prune any branches off very young grafts. What I would do is pinch the growing tip from one branch to allow the other to become dominant. Observe and repeat if necessary over the next year or two. Once the dominant leader has put on some size the other branch can be pruned off at that time if you wish.
