Pretty sure these are very sturdy plants. In Philadelphia they grow as weed trees, completely hardy and not demanding in culture. We just replaced ours at Logan circle. The original trees from the 1920's (?) have been replaced with plants selected from nearby Longwood Gardens.

    Good luck with your tree.

    1. You could keep it in your conservatory so long as the temps are cool. These trees are deciduous and need a period of winter dormancy.
    2. It shouldn't grow at all during winter months (as above). No re-potting needed.
    3. Average amounts of water are required. If too dry the leaves will begin to flag. They're fast growers and well structured trees. Very fragrant blooms in May. The larger the tree becomes, the smaller the leaves. I've heard some people cut them back hard every year to keep the large foliage. I personally have never met anyone doing this. All the gardeners I've visited simply grow it on without interfering, maybe only removing low branches.

    Cheers, LPN.
