I have several banks of old (20-30 years at a guess) junipers on my property and this spring there are large patches of brown branches in a couple of the banks. I assume this is winter kill but it wasn't a particularly cold winter although it was very long and snowy and a cold spring. If I cut those brown areas out are they likely to fill in again (other healthy junipers surround the dying ones) -- or would it be better to just leave them and hope that they will come back from those brown branches? What is the life expectancy of spreading junipers? Zone 5b Thanks for any feedback.
