I've posted a better photo of this Magnolia macrophylla, but they're exciting to see. One tree at least has several buds, so worth looking out for.

A lot easier to find is the Cornus kousa. outside the pavilion in the north garden. These are planted all over the place in town, but this is probably the most beautiful anywhere.

The Fabiana imbricata f. violacea flowers are purple (violet?), but then they turn yellow.

I'm very partial to Azorella trifurcata, which is very showy now. The open flowers don't seem to be any different in colour than the unopened buds, and it's hard to tell how many and which are open. There are several open ones here.
