can you help - we appear to have Judas Ear Fungus on one of the branches of our outdoor grapevine.
Is it harmful to the vine ?? If so how do we get rid of it ?? Thanks

If the fungus is just in a branch, it would probably be best to cut off the entire branch, just to be safe. I don't think that this fungus is parasitic; so it shouldn't harm any live parts of the vine. I suspect that there is some dead wood in the infected branch. If dead wood extends from the branch to the main trunk, it may be impossible to get rid of the fungus, which likely extends throughout the dead wood. You would have to prune out all of the dead wood.

Or you can leave the branch alone and harvest the mushrooms that develop next year. They are supposed to be edible, although I've never tried them myself.
