does anyone have a way to keep japanese beetles from attacking my3 yr.old weeping cherry tree? is there a spray or powder or organic means that is effective in accomplishing this? I live in N.E. Conn., and the tree is on the N. side of the house. Thanks.
You can treat the grubs in the lawn with Bt. http://www.pueblo.gsa.gov/cic_text/housing/japanese-beetle/jbeetle.html You shouldn't see any Japanese beetles now. If you are seeing beetles now they are a different species. Newt
Just noticed Lee Valley carries a Japanese Beetle trap (prod. ID AT241, AT243). Don't know how effective it is though.
Help!! My daughter bought me a weeping cherry for mother's day and what I would guess is a Japanese Beetle is eating it to death!! A big green looking beetle...what do I do?!?!? NOT educated in tree care!!!
Hi Allison, What you are seeing is either the Green June beetle or Japanese beetle. The Japanese beetle is copper and green and not as large as the Green June beetle. Green June beetle id and options: http://ipm.ncsu.edu/photogallery/gjb.jpg http://www.aces.edu/pubs/docs/A/ANR-0991/ Japanese beetle id and options: http://www.pueblo.gsa.gov/cic_text/housing/japanese-beetle/jbeetle.html I just pick the Japanese beetles off and drop them in a container with soapy water.
