Hello and Happy Holidays to All!

I've been looking for months to find some help with my Jane magnolia, so I'm glad I've found ya'll. I bought a container grown Jane (about 4 feet tall) from a nursery that was going out of business and planted it in October. At the time it had sparse leaves and buds that never opened. Since I planted it, it has produced 2 new stems, which, unfortunately the deer have proceeded to eat all but 3 leaves off these stems. Come late January should I prune the un-opened buds off or will new ones replace the old? Also, will the stems that were eaten on by the deer re-grow leaves next spring? Or should I prune them back also.

By the way, the temperature has not gotten below 30 degrees F here yet, so what leaves it has are still green.

    Thanks for your assistance!

Well, there are no leaves left at this point, so it's safe from the deer until spring!
    Thanks!
