One of my Italian Plum trees has the new growth leaves breaking off at the junction of the limb and the cluster of leaves. It looks hollow at the base of the cluster, but I can see no evident parasite. does anyone have any experience with this?

    thanks,
    Chuck

Sounds similar to Brown Rot you see on Cherry's. Possibly it effects Plums as well. I believe Brown Rot is a symptom of Bacterial Blight, as is shot hole disease, which cause a lot of holes in the leaves. These two symptoms generally go hand in hand on Cherry trees.
