I was just curious if this is normal or not? The trunk of my newly planted paperbark maple does not seem to be peeling. Will this correct itself or Is there something I should do to encourage this? Like fertilizers, etc.?
    Thank you

This is a characteristic that develops with age, but my understanding is that it develops relatively early in the life of the tree. Give it time. If the bark color is correct then there is a pretty good chance you will see the exfoliation develop in time.

Mine is about 6 years old and has started to show very nice bark this year.
