Identification: Is this a fig tree?

I was told this is a fig tree.. but as I look up the care for it, the pictures ive seen don't match.. can anyone tell me what this is? and how to care for this plant properly. Ive had this plant before and I always manage to kill it.. Im gonna give it one more try. any help I get is very much appreciated.. thanks.. Erika
