Is it too late to prune a Fig tree?
It s now the middle of March.
We are here in Los Angeles-
The tree is 30 yrs old - a white Italian fig tree.
The last few weeks have been so warm that it is
popping out leaves all over. (although today it has turned cold and is raining!).
My gardener says that it is not too late to trim it.
It has really long branches shooting up high.
I just worry that it will go into shock and not produce fruit.
He said that he will not prune it all the way back but partially.
    What should I do?
    thanks
Any other tips on pruning Fig Trees?
I have read where you should wait until after the first production of fruit. Different sources give different times.
    Thanks
