Hi- I'm slowly learning about plants - this forum and its members have been very helpful. I've decided to try to prune my plants to get a better overall appearance. I have a Dracaena that has multiple shoots coming out of a barked core. If I prune one of these shoots - is their a way that I can control or encourage where the new growth might occur? I thought I read somewhere that you can lightly cut into a shoot to encourage new buds to grow. Is that possible? Thanks in advance for any help
http://www.4hydroponics.com/nutrients/drNodes.asp I've never used the product, but I do find it interesting. Some plants, if you cut a shoot, it will stimulate some further branching...most of my experience has been with woody plants, like trees. In addition, it's been my experience that if you do prune plants at the beginning of their growth season, it will stimulate more branching than if done near the end of their growing season. I am not sure if this holds true for your plant.
