Anyone know the name of this one? It was on the underside of an oak tree's large limb. I've never seen something like this that was inverted and an entire circle.
What looks odder to me is that it's bright blue . . . I've only ever seen them white, yellowish or brownish.
Normally the conk is growing out of the side of the tree. In a case such as this, the trunk isn't there to stop it. I guess.
Nice photo. Neat specimen. Growing on Oak? I'd say Ganoderma's a good bet. No telling tho - Fomes, Fomitopsis... It is unusual for it to grow so that the entire margin is there... that's worded poorly...It's usually an up/sideways thing. Not an upside downy thing. Thanks fer sharon.
