I was wondering if there are any annual or perennial vines that should be avoided because they are considered invasive. Particularly flowering and seed setting vines.

My situation is this: I have a patio with planters and trellis, third floor apartment. I am thinking about planting some Morning Glory or some Canary Bird Vine. I know both set seed, and wouldn't want to put something that will spread seeds all over the neighborhood and choke everyone's gardens to death.

    Are they problematic here?

Ivy (Hedera species). A superb native species for me, but an invasive horror for you.

Wouldn't plant the common white morning glory we see growing around here, people have been trying to get rid of it for years.

Yeah. I found out Ivy was problematic recently.

I actually have an Ivy, it's growing in a pot, and about 20 feet from any native soil. So, I think it is safe...
