I am use to grafting acer palmatum and other common Japanese maples. Naturally, in the most natural sense, my yard is filled with acer rubrum and saccharinum seedlings. Even my gutter of the house has a few growing out if it. So I have three questions: 1. What interesting things can be grafted onto rubrum as the rootstock? 2. What interesting things can be grafted onto saccharinum? 3. Is there anything different in the propagation of rubrum and/or sacharinum that I should expect than what I normally do with acer palmatum and its relatives? So far I've noticed that compatible scions for these understocks that look interesting are: Acer saccharinum 'Born's Gracious' Acer rubrum 'Snow Fire' Acer Pentaphyllum Thanks, Tim Nichols
