Has anyone tried ordering plants from the UK? There is a fern I have a hankering for, and can only find UK nurseries that carry it. But as far as I can work the categories on the CFIA website, plants with soil can't come in... or does anyone have experience to the contrary?

Likely correct. It is very easy for pests and diseases to be transmitted on soil.

What fern is it? If you're prepared to grow it from spores, they can be sent from here to Canada without problem.

Good point. If I ever get organized enough to do that I'll have to tap into spores. The one I want at the moment is Blechnum chilense, which I had gotten just before Heronswood was sold, but managed to lose to a late summer drought (sigh). At least, having had it, I know for sure it's worth having!
