I live south of Bancroft, Ont. and all around here are what the locals call Wild Raspberries. These plants grow 3-4 ft. tall, haven't any thorns,the large leaves look like Maple leaves and the sweet fruit is large enough to cover the tip of ones thumb. What is it?
I wouldn't guess it from the photo, which doesn't enlarge, but from your description probably Rubus odoratus.
