Found several of these small mushrooms with star shaped tops at a local park in Eugene Oregon. Can anyone identify them for me. I suspect that the star shaped tops are "aging artifact"? Thanks, Jerry
Very beautiful! Often, when the Coprinus family of mushrooms 'melt' they get this design but these photos show an outstanding view of this species! Great parasols!
I just put together a 2010 mushroom calendar for my club and sent it to the printer yesterday. I would have strongly considered one of these photos though, maybe next year.

Ahhhh MycoRob...you should have gone to the 'Lichen Appreciation' gallery...I've a few posts in there of some photos............lol Photography is my obscession...mushrooms my passion. We're not getting many of the wonderful C.family this year...it's just been so DRY here!
