Hi there. I rescued a young corn plant (just about 2 feet tall) from a bin and repotted it in new soil. It looks healthy but the cane is skinny (only less than an inch in diameter) and the leaves look sparse. Is this a slow growing plant? Would it take "forever" to develop a thick cane?
In an indoor environment thick canes are unlikely to ever develop. The thick ones you see are either field grown or greenhouse plants. http://www.engledow.com/green-scene/2013/02/a-long-strange-trip-the-journey-of-a-tropical-plant/
Wow! That's interesting. Thanks for the info, Saltcedar. I'll try to group it with other plants to make it look more lush.
