An area nearby has beautiful plants growing, but sadly, will be destroyed. I want to save those native wild plants from being killed, by transplanting them. There are shrubs, flowers, ferns, etc. I don't know how to transplant them though. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
You should get help. Are there any local gardening clubs or native plant societies in your area? It will help if you know the plants that are there. Also you should get the permission of the landowner before doing anything!! Maybe they would even help. If you are stuck with accomplishing this miracle on your own then I would make a stab with a local Boys Scouts troop if any in your area for help!! Start by removing the small plants first such as mosses and the ferns like you would cut sod for lawns-hope I am clear. Then the next tier of larger plants and so on. Very large shrubs and trees will be difficult but with the shrubs you could trim the branches to a height that you can manage and you would have to basically dig a trench around the plant at about two feet from the stem then approach from one side and dig out a ramp as deep as three feet-this is all guesswork on my part as three feet may not be enough-and then undercut the plant at the lowest depth of the ramp. Hope this is imaginable?? Maybe someone there has the experience!!! Perhaps any landscape contractor could give you assistance or advice?? best of luck. Take images and share!
