Help! My Queen Crape Myrtle is now shapeless after years of excessive and unstudied trimming. I remember how beautiful this tree used to be before an overzealous gardener cut down its topmost branches to keep it from entangling electric wires and clogging our gutter. Now, I guess from all the hacking, it no longer flowers even. How do I return my tree to shape and beauty? I would like it to look like this specimen, if possible. By the way, I live in the Philippines and the local name of the Queen Crape Myrtle is "Banaba". Plenty thanks!
Is this the same as a CREPE Myrtle. I am finding listings under yr spelling and mine. This has a pruning section that might help http://edis.ifas.ufl.edu/MG266 http://indian.ifas.ufl.edu/News/2002 news/crepemyrtlenews.htm Liz
Yes, I believe queen CREPE and CRAPE myrtles are the same tree. Thanks for those very comprehensive links! I'll keep them handy when I prune my tree this Sunday.
