I tried to plant nut seed, almond, chestnut, and so on, for so many years. Last year in December I'd tried again, this time it grow, almond and chestnut into a beautiful small tree. Still in the same pot, and take it outdoors. My problem is what should I do with this small plant. Should I let it stay outdoors or bring it indoors for the winter. I don't know anyone who has almond and chestnut tree planted in the yard. In Windsor Ontario Canada consider zone 6b, the weather always changes, thanks, Homestaymom
You already have the answer for your almond....Homegrown Almond Tree . The chestnut (presumably Castanea sativa if bought at the grocery store) will be hardy in Windsor and could grow into a large tree if the Chestnut Blight (same fungus that killed most of the native American Chestnuts) doesn't kill it first.
Almond and chestnut tree will keep in touch I would like to say thanks to UBC and to all the replies, I decided to keep the almond tree and chestnut tree in the pot and will grow this indoors. I will keep you inform on the condition of the tree. Thanks, Homestaymom
