My garden is overrun with horsetail - equisetum. What plants can I use to cover, hide, disguise it? Senecio greyii and taller perennial geraniums work. What else can I try?

Will vegetables grow with all that competition?

Horsetail is easy to control in areas with reasonably rich soil. Any plants that grow sufficiently tall will shade it out. Vegetables will have no problem with horsetail, unless you don't bother to weed regularly.

    Thanks for your response.

I know the other issue I have to work on is the winter water that pools in the yard for a few days after a major rain.

Taller cover such dense evergreen shrubs will shade most of it out.
