    Hi there:

A couple of months ago I planted a line of Taxus x media "Hicksii" in one corner of the yard. (This is different from another previous question I asked about one that was sick somewhere else.)

In this corner, all of them look great except for one. One of them isn't brown, isn't wilted, isn't sparse isn't particularly anything but it doesn't show any new growth like the others around it. It looks like it's asleep.

Should I dig it up and examine the root ball? Is there any way to "jumpstart" it?

Variable results in yew plantings are frequent here. I often suspect root rot. However, since your planting is recent maybe the one has some lingering dryness inside the rootball that is making it grow less than the others. Too wet, too dry - as the roots go so goes the top.
