Older leaves are bound to become yellow & drop. If new leaves are turning yellow, then, may be the exposure to light is lacking.

You have a big, beautiful plant. Just pluck off the dying leaves, and problem solved. The leaves simply don't live forever. If a quarter of the plants leaved turned yellow in a span of a couple of weeks then you need to be really worried, but what I see looks totally normal.

You say you made sure the soil was dry before watering again, but do you mean the soil on top, or all the way through? If it's planted in potting soil, which is mostly peat, it will hold water inside the pot for ages, so you eed to take them into account.

Well what do you think I should do, when it comes to checking the soil? Can I poke it with a wooden screwer and push all the way down or will that damage the roots?
