My mother gave me her Arce "Inabe Shidare" because she was moving, when she dug the tree out, she cut half of the root ball. We transplanted in a pot and the leafs are turning brown and sagging. what can I do to save her?

It is always a bad thing to get part of the root ball, but that is what you have. Keep the soil moist, and I would keep it from the direct sun rays as that might cause it stress.
