Re: japanese laceleaf maples Please help! I sprayed a citrus based cleaner on my Laceleaf Weeping Japanese Maple. It, of course, was too strong for the plant to handle - the leaves are drying out. I have cut some away but I don't know how much I can cut before I will affect the plant. And I don't know - will the leaves fall during the winter season or do they stay? If they fall I think the tree will be OK. If they don't and I leave the leaves the tree will look pretty sad. Help! Thank you! Helen
Re: japanese laceleaf maples The leaves will fall this winter. You can prune some away but dont take more than 30% of the plant. I would give it a shower and let it be, but its very hard to be patient. So prune away some of the older growth and you may even get some new buds.
