Just had this plant brought home as a gift, but we have two house cats and since there are so many varieties that are toxic to felines I need a precise identification. (some palms are toxic to cats while others are not)

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

A common type like this I think you will find listed as Neanthe bella.

Parlor palm. (Current botanical name is Chamaedorea elegans; Neanthe bella is obsolete but may still appear in some references.)

    C. elegans is safe for cats.
