Hi ive just been given a plant and have no idea what it is or how to look after it, any help would be great thanks. Thanks again.
That's a bromeliad, probably one of the cultivars of Tillandsia cyanea. Misting is important. However, you've been given a plant that's about to bloom - after the flowers (which are a stunning blue) are done, it will begin to make offshoots, and the mother plant will die. Don't be alarmed by this - let it happen, it's a normal part of the plant's lifecycle. You'll end up with between 2 and 10 baby plants, which you can either separate into their own pots, or leave together. At that point, choose a soil medium that has very fast drainage, and you'll be fine. Bromeliads in general are very easy-care plants.
i saw those at the greenhouse i volunteered at 4 some reason i though it was interesting kinda reminds of the typical spider plant that reproduces by growing out stem/viny stems n babies grow on it n fall off it never seen the mother plant die tho:P
