Hi everyone, I recently found two plants at my local greenhouse and I can't seem to find any cultivation information about them (or even if I should be trying to grow then indoors!). The first is Melaleuca Bracteata or "White Cloud Tree" and the second is Eugenia Pyriformis var Uvalha. I don't even know what their basic needs of temp/light/watering/rest etc =/. Does anyone know anything about these two plants that could help? Very much appreciated! Ryan P.S. The taller one with the long, slender leaves is the White Cloud
http://www.pfaf.org/database/plants.php?Melaleuca+bracteata http://www.ars-grin.gov/cgi-bin/npgs/html/taxon.pl?16211 You are correct in that there seems to be little web-based information regarding these two plants other than they are both subtropical flowering trees of the same family as Myrtle Trees, M. bracteata being Australian, E. pyriformis v. uvalha being Brazilian, and that both may have some medicinal value. Having said that, they might be good bonsai/container plants...indoors when the weather is cold, outdoors when warm.
I have 2 6' tall eugenia topiaries, they like part sun, lots of water ( they will drop leaves if they get too dry) They also like to have some room for their roots to grow. Also in the mid-summer you will be rewarded with some small white puffy flowers. All in all its a pretty easy plant to grow.
