    Some sort of slime mould. They are harmless, working on converting mulch into plant foods.

    Thanks Michael! Anything I can do to get rid of it? I don't want to spread it around if possible.

    No need to - as said, they are harmless, and beneficial for plants. They also usually only last a few days. If you don't like the appearance, just use a hoe to turn it over back into the soil.
