I have quite an infestation of some kind of critter. I tried taking many photos however my digital camera could not quite capture a close enough picture they are so tiny. The bugs in question are totally infesting most of my plants. They do not seem to have a particular preferrence for their meal. I thought initially it was just moisture or foam on the stalks and upon close examination Yikes!! White fuzzy looking insects which have a a triangle shaped head almost like a little arrow. Entire body is white many legs and they hop. The back end of this bug seems to be arched upwards with feelers or something where a tail would be. I am really sorry I am not really good at nor do I know the correct terminology for bug segments or parts. LOL. I thought perhaps mealy bugs or wooly aphid. I tried spraying my plants with 50 rubbing alcohol/water they just laughed at me the next morning there were just as many. As you can imagine I am getting really frustrated. Fear loosing my entire rock garden!!! Any help in identifying this pest or organic treatment suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Most of the plants look like they have been attacked by wool or white foam and the pest seem to be in a straight line on the stalks of the plants and on the leaves.
The alcohol treatment I have heard of is daubbing mealbugs individually with a cotton swab dipped in alchohol, as when they are infesting cacti. Since you already have some idea what the insects might be you can find lots of information on the internet. Looking at pictures and descriptions on web sites yourself you should be able to decide on an identification fairly quickly, then look up control options.
