    Hello,

I'm new to this forum. Wondering if you could help me!

I took some photos at a botanical garden today and need desperately to identify one of the palm trees. It is very unique-looking in that it has a bulbous sort of base, almost like a pear that sheaths the crossing stems of three huge palm leaves. I can find no evidence of this plant on the web, or maybe I just don't know where to look. Please help me!! I need the name for a school project.

I will try and post a picture later in the day, but if anyone has any clues to its identity at the moment, ANYTHING would help!

    Thanks!!

Why don't you just email the gardens with the picture and see what they say?

Well, it reminds me of a bottle palm, Hyophorbe lagenicaulis, but I'm not a palm expert by any means.

I took the liberty of posting DenisePinto's pic at PalmsNorth.com, and an experienced palm poster agrees with Daniel.
