Hello, I'm new to this forum. Wondering if you could help me! I took some photos at a botanical garden today and need desperately to identify one of the palm trees. It is very unique-looking in that it has a bulbous sort of base, almost like a pear that sheaths the crossing stems of three huge palm leaves. I can find no evidence of this plant on the web, or maybe I just don't know where to look. Please help me!! I need the name for a school project. I will try and post a picture later in the day, but if anyone has any clues to its identity at the moment, ANYTHING would help! Thanks!!
Well, it reminds me of a bottle palm, Hyophorbe lagenicaulis, but I'm not a palm expert by any means.
I took the liberty of posting DenisePinto's pic at PalmsNorth.com, and an experienced palm poster agrees with Daniel.
