I just got my self this fly trap and it is the second time trying one, it was the only nice looking one in the bunch, but with in a couple of days at home one of the traps as you can see started to turn black, I dont know when it had its last meal, as I have not seen it eat yet. Please help me I want this little guy to make it! I know they like alot of moisture so I made this little terrairium, since it has new growth should I cut off the black trap?

When they stretch like that is is too dark. Native to hot, sunny barrens in a hot, sunny (but rainy) climate. Black trap may just have gotten old, I'd be more concerned if the entire top blackens and shrivels.

I'd put it over in/near the window.

Mine are turning black as well, however it is right near a plant light so i dont know what its deal is, so far even traps that are new, like very small not even growing the spikes yet are turning black, anyone have any ideas of what this could be? in the picture the black area is easier to see if its enlarged.
