I have a houseplant that was recently given to me. It is about 3 feet tall, and gets long 4-6 inch long leaves when healthy. They look very waxxy almost fake. It has been drooping more and more lately. I water it about every third day, the soil is damp, not wet. There is no excess water in the drip tray. It is also not root bound. I checked and it seems that the roots are very shallow. The pot is about 10 inches in diameter, and I can get my hands through the soil to the bottom. I'm sure I can help it, if I knew what it was.

It sort of reminds me of a Schefflera, but that is only a guess...

I second it looking like a Schefflera. Maybe Schefflera actinophylla, or
    Brassaia actinophylla.

I have one of these plants too. Mine is about 7 feet tall now and gets a new "branch" every few months. Good luck with your plant.

Brassaia actinophylla is a synonym of Schefflera actinophylla. In other words they are the exact same species. Currently the species is included in Schefflera.

Yes Ed, thanks. When I mentioned both names, I meant that they were the same plant.
