I live in zone 4. The property I purchased (4 yrs ago) has 2 non fruiting, crabapple trees that would flower beautifully every year. This year they only delivered a few blossoms, and one is looking to be dying, not producing any greenery, and I noticed a gaping rip in the lower part of the trunk. THe other is covered in greenery and looks to be ok. Is it diseased? I'm concerned about losing a near by cherry tree I put in last year (10 feet away) the other crabapple tree is about 20 feet away.
I included images. Can I save this tree? Or should I remove it?
Any advice would be so much appreciated!
