Hauszwetsche

    Can anybody tell me where I can buy a " German Hauszwetsche Plum tree" in Canada preferrably in B.C.? Thanks for the reply. Hildegard Richter

    personally I have never seen or heard of that variety but... you could try Bylands Nurseries in Kelowna, they area major supplier of bare root fruit trees to the local nursery trade.

    Probably not in North American commerce, at least under that name. May be an acceptable substitute available here, however.

    In my experience, what are called "Zwetschen" are basic plums - the oval, purple ones. I don't know that they are a specific variety so much as a lack of variety - they are not the round black or red, not greengage, and so on. Just the default plum.

    I think you might find Dykhof nursery in North Van quite knowledgeable on the subject.

    Incidentally I just noticed that this thread is totally in the wrong forum - it should have been posted in Fruit Trees, or maybe Sourcing Plants and Supplies. The forum moderator may move it, as no one else can, but for future reference, Hildegard, you have a better chance of getting good answers if you post where interested and knowledgeable people are most likely to find your question.

    There is a cultivar with the name used, mentioned repeatedly on foreign web sites.
