grow black seedless grapes?

Discussion in 'Grapes and Grape Vines' started by Unregistered, Jan 10, 2006.

  1. Hi, I am wondering if it is possible to grow black seedless grapes on the lower mainland or the island. The grapes I'm inquring about are commonly found at Save-On-Foods and Superstore. If it is possible, where can I order the plant? Thanks.

"Black Beauty" is a UC Davis grape described as early, but early for California doesn't necessarily mean early for BC. The ones you are getting now are likely from Chile. I don't know of a Canadian source for vines or cuttings.

A good seedless black grape that might work for you is 'Jupiter'; it consistantly ripens in Western Washington. Unfortunately, most of the grapes in the supermarkets are grown in areas with much hotter summers than we have.
