    This appears to be a young bird, hasn't got the white cap yet. These birds are usually the top of the feathered food chain around here, most tidal ponds have a Great Blue in charge. It all depends on the size of the favored prey, if you eat something too small for the Great Blue to waste time on, he will let you stay around. Snowies are allowed, and,Little Blues and Tri coloreds, but Great Egrets get the boot. Nice shot! tsiya
