The following was sent via email: We have a grapevine with red (better blue) grapes on a south facing wall. (I don't know what type it is.) It is very productive in wood and fruit, but the fruit does not really ripen well. I would like to replace it with a variety that would ripen in North Vancouver. Although I use it for making jelly, it would also be nice if we could eat it unprocessed. In addition the cluster of grapes are very tightly packed making it hard to strip the fruit from the stem and I would prefer one with more separation between the fruits. Any suggestions regarding what variety? I also have a Himrod (green grapes), which ripens slightly better but I would prefer colour for the jelly. Thanks Goetz
Try CANADICE. Red and darker, early, seedless, hardy. Good for juice jelly or wine. They are available (or were last year) at Fragrant Flora nursery, Sechelt 604-885-6142. Ralph
