Please help identify my wine grape variety. They are a "slip grape" variety and are very sour. They are growing in Western Washington near Silverdale. Can I make wine from this grape. My guess is it propably would be best for white wine. Thanks for the help. Please see jpegs Billwa
Hi Bill, if these indeed are the American Vitis species of which there are over 17... these are NOT the preferred grape for wine making... but nothing is stopping you to try. You should possibly acquire/ plant Vitis Venefera whites... for your terroir... much too cold for reds... you may have good success with chardonnay, gewurztraminer, or riesling... plantings on a southerly and western exposed slope! However, in Yakima or Columbian valleys... go crazy!
