Im not sure I have the right area,, but I have a grapefruit tree question,,
maybe anyone seeing this can help me out
we live in florida and I have planted a grapefruit tree a few years back,,
it is about 5 ft tall and the new growth that appeared at the top did not grow like a normal tree,, instead 5 brances sprouted out to all sides,,, so its not like that is a main stem trunk going up like a tree would,, so what im trying to say is , its like not going to grow up becuase these branches are going out to the sides.
and it cannot support itself,,, any idea's on what I should do???

I too am new to citrus, but one of the questions I asked was about reshaping a tree that I had cut way back due to disease. I was told that citrus have a strong tendency to grow to their natural shape (I was told not to prune). If it has a heavy load of fruit that is causing the problem, you may want to thin the fruit or provide some temporary support.

Your grapefruit tree has many latent buds, that will sprout and continue the tree in a upward growth. The tree will take care of itself much better than the pruner can. It is the habit of citrus. - Millet
