I've just purchased a globe spruce from home depot. It's about 3 feet tall. The trunk is wrapped with a white plastic cover. What is this used for and can I remove it.

    Thanks.

I feel in most cases it is used to protect the trunk during handling & transportation. In some situations (larger trees it is used to keep deer from rubbing I believe). I would take it off.

    Others might have more info...
