    ... are said to require US zone 8. Vancouver is a bit cooler than that so I wonder it anyone has successfully overwintered them here outdoors.

    Not routinely hardy in the north* even on the Pacific Coast, grown therefore as a container plant overwintered under cover or as a summer annual. With otherwise the main limitaton being a significant susceptibility to crown rot.

    *Commercial sources in particular repeatedly overstate winter hardiness of various horticultural crops. Because many persons including certain prominent gardening experts do not appear to understand what the temperature spread assigned to each USDA Hardiness Zone actually represents.
