recently bought new home need help for planting advice for planting different types of tulip bulbs,daffodils and hyacinths dont know what can be planted in same beds or with other flowers?
Books on planting combinations can be found at bookstores and libraries. Check also local climate suitability of each kind of bulb. Of the three mentioned daffodils are most likely to settle in and make lasting clumps that flower well year after year - in a suitable climate, soil and exposure. Hyacinths may also persist for years but the large-flowered modern kinds sold often topple over while still in flower.
Plant daffodils in drifts of at least 10 or 12 and smaller bulbs like snowdrops, crocus, scilla in groups of 50 or more. You can plant them all in the same area and arrange them according to color, size etc. Google some pictures of bulb planting in images. I agree with Ron about the Hyacinths...they smell wonderful but other than that they look simply out of place in a garden (imo). Tulips will end up being annuals most likely. Also...remember when planting daffodils that their foliage will hang on forEVER after they bloom so do not plant them right at the edge of a path.
