I would like to grow yellow cooking onions in my garden this year. I attempted it last year but the final bulbs were small and not worth the effort.I still have these bulbs and need to know can I replant them and if so when.
I would appreciate any Onion information anyone could give me thank you

    Onion cultivation

The small onions grown from sets resulted from less than optimal growing conditions. Onions need rich soil but not too high in nitrogen, a well-weeded growing area, regular watering (important in drought conditions of last summer) and lots of sunlight to mature properly. The sets you planted resulted in small onions which if replanted next spring will bolt to form seedheads, not bigger bulbs, since the onion is a bienniel.
